Evergreen Planning Feedback
Currently central pooled technology resources have established equity and standards across the district. This includes the purchase and installation of student workstations, coordinator workstations, file servers, network wiring and switching equipment. This central pool also supports and maintains district software licensing programs and Internet access for each school. Now that district wide technology equity has been established, it is time to plan for the future maintenance and evergreening of technology at each school. All principals were met with on a individual basis (April-May 2004) to review the technology budget. All principals were given the opportunity to provide feedback on developing a sustainable cost effective evergreening solution for the
school district. Refer to the feedback provided below:
Currently district wide we have over 500 workstations to maintain. (Note: Refer to school inventory reports for exact school specific figures.)

•Within the current budget structure the technology budget can only evergreen two school labs and one server per school year.
•Clearly identified ICT/CTS planning at the school level will drive the technology maintenance for the years to come.
•All servers will be replaced and upgraded over the next four years.
•All networking switching equipment will be upgraded over the next six years in order to
optimize SuperNet functionality.
•The warranty on all PC workstations will be complete in the next three years. •The main driving forces for upgrading or replacing PC workstations are:
•The current hardware can’t run the most current operating system.
•The current hardware can’t run required school programs.
•The cost of maintaining and repairing the equipment becomes costly and
time consuming.
•Staff expressing concerns about the speed and crashing issues.
