Points to Remember
India is a country that has both states and union territories.
The States (29 of them) are administrative divisions that have their
own governments.
The Union Territories (7 of them) are ruled directly by the union
government.
The State will have an elected Chief Minister.
The Union Territories will have a Governor .
The President of India appoints a Governor or Lieutenant-Governor for
each territory.
States of India have evolved on the basis of linguistics, which means,
the language and culture formed the basis for determining the
boundaries of the states.
Delhi is the Capital of India.
The National Capital Territory of Delhi or NCT, is also known as the
National Capital Region(NCR) in which Noida, Gurgaon, Greater
Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad are included.
