We take The

Quiet Man Self-

Guided Walking

Tour to all the

locations from the
movie and spent

the rest of the day
walking and

gathering tidbits of information about John Wayne, Maureen

O’Hara and the

excitement that the

production caused in the

little town of Cong.

We walk to Ashford Castle

past a vine covered

cottage with geraniums in

all the windows. They let

the plants get tall and

leggy here. This cottage

was one of the many

locations used in the

filming and a version of

the windows ended up in

one of my paintings.
