Editorial
Questions, questions, questions….
Would you be surprised to learn that there are approximately 21 question marks in this slim
publication? (There’s another one!) Our contributors have asked readers, on at least 21 occasions, to
make a response to the questions they raise. But this of course is part of the Quaker Way, a way which
encourages freedom to think, freedom to challenge accepted notions, freedom be inclusive - all within
a dynamic understanding of Love.
When faced with questions such as What is to be done about ‘Bournemouth meeting house?’ or at
another level,’ What shall we have for dinner?’ As Quakers we believe that we and all creation, live ‘in
the Light’, and the questions we encounter can be answered in an understanding of God’s participation
with us in the process, This surely is the reason why Quaker meetings are always prefixed with words:
‘Meeting for Worship for….’
This edition of News and Views contains evidence that it has been created by contributors Writing for
Worship for News and Views, that there has been discernment involved, whether in Steven Feltham
writing consciously on that very subject, or implicit in Helen Rouse’s contribution.
As editors, our only written contribution is this Editorial, all other contributions are from members in
the Society of Friends Bournemouth Coastal Area. We are grateful to you for what you send to us,
andand we hope you will continue thinking and writing.
If the format of this edition seems different, it is because of difficulties in adapting and transferring
data from one older Laptop to a new one and the provider’s updating of software. It is possible that
many readers may have experienced the ‘Man-against-machine’ struggle, from time to time. If you
sent a contribution for this edition and it appears not to be published, please tell us, it may have been a
victim of recent changes in Information Technology.
The deadline for the submission of contribution for the summer edition is 12th April. If you haven’t
shared your thoughts with f/Friends in this way, give it a try, it is not a competition, and we endeavour
to make use of all that is sent to us
Peace and Love,
Dorrie and Eric.
