Who does what at Bournemouth Coastal

Area Meeting in 2025

Local Meetings appoint Friends to serve in many roles in their meetings. There are also many Friends
appointed by Area Meeting, for roles across the area meeting. This list brings together these appointments.

Administration & governance

CLERK & ASSISTANT CLERK Penny Estall (P) assisted by Angela Jacobs (P) prepare the agenda for area
meeting business meetings, conduct the meeting and draft the minutes. Penny deals with area meeting
correspondence, acting as a point of contact for local meeting clerks, trustees, the area meeting treasurer,
and convenors of Pastoral Friends and Elders. She administers OneDrive, where area meeting documents are
stored securely.

DATA PROTECTION OFFICER, MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY and CONTACT for the LIST OF NAMES & ADDRESSES
Penny Sanders (P) ensures that the area meeting keeps up to date with the Data Protection Policy, and that
membership details of Friends are up to date. She prepares the annual tabular statement for Yearly Meeting.

MEMBERSHIP VISITS COORDINATOR Angela Jacobs (P) coordinates arrangements to meet with attenders
applying for membership.

NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE Bonnie Brown (S) (convenor), Ruth Bush (W), Gill Coleman (P), Sue Lewis (L),
David Mason (NM), Wendy Sender (B), Marguerite Willcox (L) and Kate Wright (B) discern names to bring to
area meeting business meetings for appointment.

REGIONAL GATHERING STEERING GROUP CONVENOR David Mason (NM) convenes the steering group that
organises Regional Gatherings twice a year.

TRUSTEES David Brown (B), Kate Mellor (P), Alison Sepping (P), Ann Green (P) and David Mason (NM),
together with representatives to trustees Jeni Bremner (L) and Glenn Hull (W), are responsible for the good
governance of Bournemouth Coastal Area Quaker Meeting, a registered charity. Their main responsibilities
include finance, employment, risk management, legal compliance and stewardship of property.

ZOOM COORDINATOR Rob Score (P) administers bookings for area meeting Zoom sessions.

Caring for meeting for worship

ELDERS David Brown (B), Sue Lewis (L), Tania Ortu (P), Peter Sender (B) Wendy Sender (B), Tom Sanders (P),
Pauline Weston (P), Len Wigg (P) (convenor), and Stuart Yates (B) seek to nurture the spiritual life of their
local meeting, including the right holding of meeting for worship. They seek, too, to nurture the spiritual life
across the area meeting.

ELDERS’ CONTACT Beth Crutch (S) is the contact for Swanage.
PASTORAL FRIENDS Gill Coleman (P), Peter Estall (P), Trisha Hyder (B), Margaret Lewis (P), Stephen Feltham
(B), Dorinda Fox (B), Jennifer Mason (NM), Malcolm Swan (NM), Rosemary Wells (NM) and Kate Wright (B)
(convenor) are appointed by the area meeting to nurture the pastoral life in their meetings, helping to build
a community in which all find acceptance and loving care. They help, too, to nurture the pastoral life across
the area meeting. Elders and Pastoral Friends work closely together. You can approach any of them for
support at any time.
