review by Ann Coleman
Wow! What an amazing show performed by the Swanage group
‘All Sort’d.’ It was their first musical production and a first time on
stage for most of them.
‘Eddie and Ellie’ was a modern day Romeo and Juliet - based in
Swanage. It was told through dance and songs with narration and
sign language for those with communication difficulties. It was a sell
out, every seat taken.
These young people really showed us how to have fun and enjoy
ourselves. Their faces said it all - the love shone out. These are
youngsters who find every day, a real challenge, many with
confidence and communication difficulties. What a joy to have been
in the audience. They all truly found their voices and their message
was ‘We are all different but we ALL have a voice’. Fantastic!
Methodically Messy
What fun we had over Easter supporting our friends,
Swanage Methodist Church, in hosting a ‘Messy
Easter’. With songs, games, arts and crafts, stories, and food to
feast on aplenty, the children and their carers learned more of the
Easter Story in an unforgettably joyous and interactive manner.
The team at Swanage Methodist Church put in a massive amount
of preparation and effort in the day and rumour has it that many of
us took to our sofas after the energy required to host 43 children
and their family and friends.
As a welcome consequence, we hope to work collaboratively with
the Methodists in making a mess in future.
