Guides and Brownies
I was sad to learn of the closure of these two Units as a result of
lack of Leaders and falling numbers.
In November 1946 Rev. Donald Horder was instrumental in forming
our Boy Scout Troop, and six months later, a Wolf Cub Pack. A Girl
Guide Company and Brownie Pack were added at the end of 1947.
Many of us ‘oldies’ were members of these various Units (as they
are known today) and well remember Harry and Iris Smith, the
leaders of the boys units, and Louise Addicott and Phyll Saunders,
Una’s Mum, who ran the original girls units 76 years ago.

HALL CURTAINS
We received a quote for six pairs of curtains
for the large Hall, with blackout linings and
including a Special Offer Discount of £100, of
£1915.20. This works out at approximately
£320 a pair.
A number of people have generously
approached us with offers of sponsoring a pair,
one curtain or part of a curtain and, assuming
they all ‘come good’, this will amount to the
best part of £1000.
Church Meeting has agreed to the purchase of
these curtains and if anybody else would be
prepared to help with this project by making a
donation we would be extremely grateful.
