There is a mismatch between
The mind and the body
These days – in older age
for those of us lucky enough
to retain mental faculties.
We are lively minded, interested in life
Concerned for the world –
To all appearances youthful.

But our bodies know developing boundaries

The young do not understand
They engage with our minds
And assume the body is as active.
They can push us beyond reason –
The medics, or relatives, even younger friends.

Sometimes we are tempted
To push ourselves –
Beyond reason.
