The Queen Who Served Her People
We remember, mourn, and yet celebrate the life, reign, and
contribution of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen was
Head of State for many nations including Antigua and Barbuda,
Australia, The Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica,
New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia,
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu,
and, of course, the UK. This inclusiveness and openness to such a
broad spectrum of cultures Globally is very much the spirit
th
of this 30 Folk Festival.
The Queen enjoyed and celebrated diversity, and will look with favour,
we are sure on today’s dancing, singing, and sharing in the
spirit of openness.
Here are the Queen’s own words from her 2013 Christmas message,
“For Christians, as for all people of faith, reflection, meditation and
prayer help us renew ourselves in God’s love, as we strive daily to
become better people.”
