Constance MP. Let’s get to know Anthony Wing....
          6 Interesting facts about

                      ANTHONY WING

          1. Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What did you
want to be when you grew up?
Like many young children I wanted to be an astronaut. Fast forward a few
decades and ending up in the transport industry really is not that different: it is
a future focused industry, technology is driving better customer outcomes and
choice, and safety is the industry’s priority.
          2. What is a typical day in the life of the Point to Point Transport Commissioner like?
My focus has been talking with industry members and representatives, so generally my day is spent doing that. From
what I’ve seen, the industry is coming to grips with the requirements of the new law in terms of its safety obligations.
However, it’s important the industry and the regulator address areas that industry is not so sure about or where
improvement is needed. I also work closely with my staff at the Commission to make sure we are the leading regulator.
          3. Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?
I once played Elephant Polo when I was in India. This was not easy given how big elephants are and how far off the
ground I was. The hardest part of the game was trying to turn the elephant to get to the ball, its turning circle was
similar to the old Chrysler Valiant - you had to have a few goes! .

          4. Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me... attending a
Country Taxi Operators’ Association Annual General Meeting - well throughout September at least! My team and I will
be going to all Regional CTOA AGMs, so it’s good to have an opportunity to meet with members, and to learn more
about how the law and the safety regime are working on the ground.

          5. What’s a goal you have for yourself that you want to accomplish in the next year?
This one is simple - a safer point to point transport industry. I am committed to maintaining and improving safety for
            our drivers and the public.

          6. What do you do with friends in your spare time?
When’s that? In the short time I have been in the Commissioner’s role, I haven’t had a great deal of spare time! That
said, I really enjoy meeting with industry members. My vision is that our industry always provides the safest possible
services for customers, and the public are confident the industry and regulator are making the safety of point to point
transport in NSW their absolute priority.
