NEWS The NSW Taxi Council’s request for an extension to
the new Camera Specifications has been recently
approved by the Point to Point Commission.
The Point to Point Commission has granted a
15-month extension, until 1st February 2021.
Please note that the exemption is granted on condition
that:
• The taxi is fitted with a security camera system
that was compliant with the Passenger Transport
Regulation 2007 immediately before its repeal
• If a security camera system fitted in a taxi is
not in working order or during the period of the
exemption ceases to be in working order, it is
to be replaced by an approved security camera
system
• If the taxi is replaced during the period of the
exemption, the replacement taxi will be fitted with
an approved security camera system.
The requirements to be complied by 1st February 2021
are as follows:
• All Taxis must be fitted with a working security
camera system that meets specifications
published by Transport for NSW.
• They must have signs on the inside and outside of
the taxi informing people they may be under video
surveillance while in or near the taxi.
• Video recordings are disposed of no earlier than
30 days, and before 60 days, unless requested by
the Point to Point Transport Commission or NSW
