A JAB OF THE START BUTTON BRINGS the 600-horsepower twin-
turbocharged V-8 of the 2020 M8 Convertible to life, mimicking the
confident throat clearing of a CEO at an annual board meeting. From
every angle, the M-iteration of the latest 8-Series leaves no doubt
as to its prominence as a flagship vehicle—produced exclusively
to showcase the absolute best in style, performance, comfort, and
technology that Munich can currently offer. The result is damned
            close to automotive perfection.

Then, they took the roof off of it.

There exists no task the 2020 BMW M8 Convertible cannot
successfully accomplish. This is a car that will transport a family of
four in luxurious comfort, swallow all manner of luggage or groceries
in its cavernous trunk, float over mile after mile of I-95’s pot-marked
asphalt without batting an eye, and shove all occupants deep into
what are possibly the most comfortable car seats available on the
market as it blitzes through the 1/4-mile in less than 11-seconds.

All without a top, should you so choose.

The M8’s personality is fluid—instantaneously adapting based on
driver input. The car manages the toughest of vehicular tricks as
its proportions seemingly shrink around the driver. While the wide
hood stretching from horizon to horizon before the windshield may
give one the impression of piloting a pontoon boat, a simple toe press
of the right pedal shatters the illusion. This is no dawdling yacht; it’s
a speedboat on a glass top lake. The M8 rockets forward from any
speed—transforming palm trees, strip malls, and other drivers into a
            technicolor blur.
