Four trainee electricians and plumbers
are putting knowledge into practice
through unique industry placements.
LHP is giving Grimsby Institute students the
opportunity to test and develop their technical skills
in a real time work environment while receiving
support from their experienced repairs and
maintenance service.
Over the next year, the trainees – all studying for
their Level 3 Technical education course - will spend
one day a week in a relevant role at LHP.
Joining the workforce they will take part in a
structured work plan, shadowing qualified LHP
employees carrying out repairs at any of the 7500
homes across North East Lincolnshire.

We wanted our first LHP customer calendar to
reflect our coming together and celebrate all that
is wonderful about Lincolnshire from Grimsby and
Immingham in the north to Boston in the south; the
market towns and seaside resorts in between as
well as some of our unique Lincolnshire phrases and
our amazing Lincolnshire food. A spot of haslet or
Grimsby fish and chips anyone?
Here’s to 2019!
Its celebrations all round for LHP resident
Marilyn Jones who has been awarded
the prestigious Stella Willing Award for
outstanding fundraising services to the British
Legion.
Marilyn raised an impressive £26,000 in less than a
year, selling poppies in the Tesco Cleethorpes store
and also supplying the poppy collection boxes to
shops in Cleethorpes, New Waltham, Humberston
as well as The Limes sheltered scheme.
Surpassing all expectations, this year Marilyn and
her team raised £16,000 from poppy sales to visitors
at Tesco, Cleethorpes in just the two weeks leading
up to Remembrance Sunday.
Marilyn said about winning the award: “I was gob
smacked when I found out I had won and it was
very nice. I have been a member of the British
Legion since 1965, first as a standard bearer then
as a parade marshal and in 1990 I was asked to
organise the Poppy Appeal for Cleethorpes in 1990.
I get great satisfaction knowing the money goes to
support the welfare of troops past and present.”
The Stella Willing Award is awarded by the British
Legion to members who raise the most money from
selling poppies in an area not represented by the
British Legion.
