ANTHONY GERACI – A LIFE IN THE KEY OF BLUE
In an industry where too often the business savvy, privileged and/or
the wealthy rise to the top over the skilled and talented, Anthony
Geraci is an exception. Raised in a blue-collar family hailing from
Boston, Massachusetts, USA, this hard working and driven piano-
playing songwriter/musician has worked his way to his current
well-deserved recognition.
Anthony’s had the opportunity to play piano with Muddy Waters,
B.B. King, Otis Rush, Chuck Berry, Big Mama Thornton, Big Joe Turner,
Jimmy Rogers and many more. He’s recorded with Big Walter Horton, Ronnie Earl,
Big Jack Johnson, Zora Young, Sugaray Rayford, Debbie Davies, Kenny Neal to name a few!
Geraci graduated from the Berklee College of Music
with a B.A. Degree, and an M.A. from Skidmore
College. He continues to perform worldwide with
Anthony Geraci and the Boston Blues All-Stars, and
with the Proven Ones, that features Kid Ramos,
Willie J. Campbell, Jimi Bott and Brian Templeton.
Life hasn’t been all roses for Anthony and his family.
About a year and a half ago his son Todd was run
over by a semi-truck while on his way to work. His
right leg was pinned underneath the truck’s wheel
for 21 minutes. Todd was in intensive care for two
weeks, and though the doctors did everything they
could to try and save his leg, the family had to come
to terms with the tragic fact that his right leg had to
be amputated above the knee. “To give a doctor Anthony Geraci
permission to do that to your child is something I
hope you never have to experience”, tells Anthony.
Through all this, including our current global pandemic, Anthony Geraci brings us his latest release,
packed full of musical joy and celebration of the blues, titled ‘Daydreams in Blue’.
B I asked Anthony to tell us a bit about himself and ‘Daydreams in Blue’.
This is what he told me …….
LL: Let’s start at the beginning! Your biography tells that you did not come from a musical
family. What did your parents do and what was it like for you growing up in a non-musical
household?
AG: My parents were both hard working people, often holding down two jobs at the same time. My
father was a machinist. He was originally from Brooklyn, NY but settled in New Haven, CT after he
met my mother. He was actually an accomplished tailor! He made my “hippy” stage clothes in the
1960’s. I looked like the illegitimate child of Sonny and Cher! He also made the covers for my first
