love listening to classic artists, but I’m still trying to keep my ears open and find new things that
inspire me. I really like some of Gary Clark’s material. I also like some of Sheryl Crow’s music, so I

try to keep listening to other things as well. Brittany Howard, I think she’s come out with a great
new album, so I kind of mix it up but I’m probably a bit of a classic woman at heart. Classic rock
    and blues.

    BiTS: There’s a photograph I’ve seen of
you, changing the subject, with a rather
beautiful 12 string guitar. Do you play

    that much?

GD: Oh, gosh, yes. That was in America. I
I think that’s one I picked up and I just
wanted to get it under my fingers. I

remember seeing Jimmy Page using it
and I wanted to hear what it sounded
like, but I’d love to play it more. I don’t
actually own one myself, but they’re
    beautiful instruments.

BiTS: Do you have a favourite guitar

amongst the guitars that you own?

GD: I suppose yes. I love my Gibson Les
Paul that I play. I play it all the time. My
husband bought it for me a good few

years ago. It’s a gold top Gibson Les Paul. I
I really like it. We also have a lovely
Takamine acoustic that’s got a great
sound and everybody who plays it is like,
God, this has got such a great sound and
it’s one of those guitars you just get a
feeling and it wasn’t a really expensive

guitar, but it happens to have a beautiful
sound. But I bought a wee ST recently, a wee white ST and I really really like it too. But I’m not
really somebody who plays lots and lots of guitars. I just kind of have a few guitars and I play them
as much as I can. Whenever I feel at home with a guitar, it’s great. I do love the odd time playing a
Telecaster because my Gibson’s so heavy, so I like playing a lighter guitar, but it’s a totally

different feel under your fingers. I like the tones that a Gibson Les Paul can get from how heavy it
is. It’s just the way it’s built, but then sometimes it’s nice to put on light instruments and feel like
                                              Dallas, Texas, Night skyline.
you can do some really nice rhythm playing like the way Keith Richards does.

BiTS: Well, thank you very much, indeed. I won’t take much more of your time Grainne.

GD: Thank you for having me. I’m delighted to take part.

    BiTS: You stay safe.
