the blues – I liked the more straight ahead songs like ‘You Got Me Runnin’ and ‘Need Your Love So

Bad’ and when they did put their own spin on things like ‘Tore Down’ I thought that it worked
    brilliantly.

                                           B09498DW9H

I'm always surprised that I like Mike Zito, his music is definitely
blues rock - this album especially - but for me his work retains
the deep feeling and honesty of the blues while also having the
dynamics of rock. The album was produced by David Z (Prince,

Buddy Guy, John Mayall) and features a band of Lewis Stephens
(piano, organ), Doug Byrkit (bass), Matthew Johnson (drums),
Zach Zito (acoustic guitar), Lisa Andersen (backing vocals), Eric
Demmer (saxophone) and Fernando Castillo (trumpet). We kick
off with a more muscular version of JJ Cale's 'I’ll Make Love To
You' ending with a nice sax solo from Demmer and 'Don’t Bring Me Down' is a funky rocker with
Mike calling out internet trolls. 'Dreaming of You' and 'In My Blood' are both bluesy restrained
ballads sprinkled with tasteful lead guitar.

'Presence Of The Lord' is a beefed up version of the Eric Clapton gospel song that for me didn't
work as well as the JJ Cale song (I thought the pounding drums were out of place), whereas 'When
It Rains' is a subtle blues ballad and 'You Don’t Have Me' ups the pace and 'Damned If I Do' is a
moody power ballad with distorted lead guitar runs and brass fills. 'Running Man' is another
uptempo rocker and 'Evil' is a 6-minute cover of the Willie Dixon/Howlin’ Wolf blues standard with
wonderful Hammond organ from Stephens and we finish with the title track with its powerful lead
guitar introduction followed by an equally powerful, emotive vocal delivery by Mike and a blasting

solo in the middle before the song builds to a frantic finish. I would have liked a bit more blues
content here but Mike does what he does very well and I'm sure Zito fans will love this record.

                                           Christone 'Kingfish’ Ingram—662—Alligator ASIN :
                                           B095LH2HR5

'662' (the area code for his home in Clarksdale) starts off where
his previous album 'Kingfish' left off, the first three tracks are
rocking blues tracks featuring his confident vocals and biting
lead guitar licks, this album like the last was produced in

Nashville by Tom Hambridge, who also co-wrote many of the
songs with Christone. However, 'Another Life Goes By'
introduces a subtler sound, a soul ballad built on Glenn Worf’s
funky bass line with Christone singing in a subdued manner and
adding jazzy guitar licks but 'Not Gonna Lie' ups the pace again
and then 'Too Young to Remember' is built on a funky Prince-style guitar riff but adds blues guitar
solos as he sings about the history of the blues, noting that he's "Too young to remember but old
enough to know!" 'You're Already Gone' is a gentle smooth soul ballad while 'My Bad' is another
