'Pressure' is a bit tougher and grittier than the other songs with a biting guitar solo from Naftaly

    while 'Too Good to be True' is smooth, melodic soul and we finish with the funky ‘Move On’ which
    again marries 70s funk with a contemporary R&B groove. This is definitely modern R&B that has its
    roots in the old skool Memphis soul, with outstanding vocals from the Jackson sisters - that sibling
    harmony really drives every song but the band also play their part in providing sympathetic
    backing. I thought that this was a bit smoother than their previous two albums and I can see that

    could make it more commercial but personally I prefer the more raw and bluesy sounds of their
    earlier material.

                                           This new album from New York guitarist, singer and songwriter

                                           Chris Bergson sees him dropping his band. The album features
                                           just him, his electric guitar and vocals, it was recorded in just 2
                                           days in March 2021 at Brooklyn's Excello Recording studio
                                           produced and engineered by Hugh Pool. The title track is a great
                                           way to start a reflective jazzy song featuring just Chris's guitar
                                           and vocals, ‘Laid Up With My Bad Leg In Lennox’ is more bluesy
                                           with slide guitar and ‘Hector and Donna’ is a melodic story song

                                           with finger-picked electric guitar - and there's more wistful
                                           finger-picked electric on the instrumental ‘Silver Surfer’. Richard
    Julian's song ‘Cheap Guitar’ is really bluesy featuring more slide guitar, while ‘Latitude’ is a version
    of Chris's own song from his 2007 ‘Fall Changes’ album and ‘Last Lullaby’ is a melodic ballad by
    Glenn Patscha the keyboard player with the great Woodstock band Ollabelle.  We finish the album

    with two more covers - Chuck Berry's ‘Back to Memphis’ and Dylan’s ‘Blind Willie McTell’ both
    delivered beautifully, with the Dylan song having a wonderful very mournful vocal delivery.

    This is the first album that I've heard from Chris Bergson and I'm impressed, I don't know if this
    album was a deliberate choice or arose because of Covid but it is a great piece of work, you don't
    often hear unaccompanied electric guitar and he manages to make it work - keeping the rhythm
    going and throwing in bits of lead work while his vocals are also very soulful.  I'm now intrigued

    and want to hear his previous band albums

                                           GA-20 was formed by Pat Faherty and Matthew Stubbs in Boston
                                           in 2018, they play retro blues-based music on old Harmony

                                           guitars and they get a great vintage sound (the name GA-20 is
                                           from a vintage Gibson guitar amp). I’ve liked all their previous
                                           releases and this new record sees them doing versions of songs
                                           by Hound Dog Taylor and the House Rockers, who like GA-20 are
                                           a group without a bass player.  ‘She's Gone’ starts us off with a
                                           mid-tempo shuffle and then ‘Let's Get Funky’ ups the pace and
                                           intensity - with pounding drums from Tim Carman.  ‘Sitting at
