that album and a few other songs of Robert Johnson's that I was doing, and I'm going
to release the Neil Sadler version of that album, which has got some other tracks on
it.
KJ: It is 27 songs.
NS: Twenty-nine. So, yes, there's another 14/15 songs
yet to be done, and I've probably done another four
or five in addition to the ones that BlueTouch did,
and I've revisited some of those, and I’ve put my
versions back together again, if you like. So that's
coming out a bit later on this year.
BiTS: Wow, I'm really looking forward to that.
That's absolutely fabulous. You seem to be riding a
bit of a wave at the moment, Neil. At least that's my
impression. Does it feel like that to you?
NS: No, it's very unreal here. Well, we put the album
out last July, but we sent a few copies out to
people, I think in the middle of May, and by
the end of May we'd arrived in the IBBA
chart. I think it was number seven. I was
absolutely astounded because
I thought, oh blimey, where
did that come from?
Because with all the other
people I've been with,
they've never actually got
more than like number 40
or 39, something like that.
And then the next month, it
went to number one, and I was
saying, what the hell's happening
here? This is ridiculous. Well, it's not ridiculous. I was absolutely
delighted, to be honest. But it was such a shock. And then it's been
there every month for the last nine months. It's number eight
in January.
BiTS: There are over 70 members of the IBBA now, which
really suggests to me that there's actually much more interest
in blues in this country than people have given credit.
NS: Yes, I think it's brilliant. You're absolutely right. There are a lot of people,
but we just don't get out there. We don't see it as much because I think the
gigs and things like that tend to be very specialised and the community is quite
