LL Let’s talk about your new release Behind
The Sun. Why did you decide to do an electric
blues album? What was your vision for this
album?
GD: It was time to follow up on the electric blues
we explore on “My Dony”. We wanted to tell the
truth better, dig deeper and soar higher than we
did last time.
LL: Would you tell us about the musicians who
contributed to the album and your
connections to them?
GD: Dirk Powell on guitar and piano, also co-
produced and wrote some of the songs. This is our
third record together. Lee Allen Zeno on bass,
great musician from Lafayette LA, been on 400 plus albums, he's a new friend and musician.
Gerard St. Julien on drums, also a great player from Lafayette, we hadn't met before this project.
Corey Ledet on accordion. He played on “My Dony” and we play a fair amount in town. Great
musician! Teka Briscoe and Ahyris Navarre are brand new friends. They sang beautifully on the
A Capella tune.
LL: How have you navigated your career
around the global pandemic?
GD: I've concentrated on making strong
records rather than touring.
LL: Tell us something about you we’d be
surprised to know!
GD: I do healing work as well: Shamanic
Healing, Reiki, Sound Healing and Mantra
Work. Music and Healing work are really the
same path.
LL: What can your fans look forward to
coming up for you?
GD: Touring very soon and a couple of new
records in the coming year. One with Dirk, and
one with Frank Fotusky, to follow up with
“Digging In John's Backyard.”
