BiTS and Pieces: Stuff and occasional nonsense

With the onset of the coronavirus or if you
prefer it, COVID-19, there are thousands of gigs
and musical events being cancelled, and venues

closed, all over the world. Many, many
musicians are feeling the pinch already.

What can we do to help if we are banned from
gigs and events too? Well one thing you can

do is listen to some blues music on line, on a
radio station, not a streaming service, and
when you hear something you like, go on-line
and buy the whole album, not one single track.
That way at least, artists will have some, albeit
                                                                 delayed, money coming their way.

Many artists also have merchandise which can be purchased on-line. Now although the BIG NAME
artist will be affected by closures too, I am really talking about independent artists who do not have
the support of a large organisation behind them, but about the folks who travel the world, many of
whom have way more than the 10,000 hours of experience, said to be essential for mastery of any
     Matt Long
    instrument.

Let’s hope this is all over pretty quickly, but until it is, stay safe and remember, Precaution is better
    than cure. Best wishes.
