month for six months leading up to the release. I actually have the CD's here. The album was funded
through a Kickstarter campaign. I managed to smash the target in less than a week. I was very humbled
and surprised and happy that so many people supported the Kickstarter, and the Kickstarter backers
will actually get their vinyl version of the album. The Kickstarter version is an exclusive translucent
violet and black marble vinyl. They will get them hopefully at the end of May. I've just approved the
test pressings, and the pressing date is a week today, so I stated in my Kickstarter campaign that I
would hope to be getting the rewards sent out to people, backers, at the end of May, beginning of
June. So I'm on target for that, but the actual release of the vinyl and the CD and the digital versions
of the full album, won't be until November, so this is me really just starting the promotion and
marketing of the whole thing now.
BiTS: What about the likes of me giving some airtime to the music as it comes
out? You happy with that?
DA: I'd be absolutely delighted, Ian, if you were interested in doing that and
happy to do that, and I will undertake to make sure that I send you a news
release and downloads and video previews for every single long before it's
released [laughs].
BiTS: That would be wonderful if you would. Now, Dave, I do want to hear
some more about some of the music that's on it, but before we go to that, tell
me something about the guitar that you're using in the video. I guess it's one
of your, what do they call them?
DA: National.
BiTS: Yeah, the National guitar that you've got.
DA: All the videos for these singles were all filmed in the same place
and in the same style, so it's not quite a live video, but it's that kind
of the sense of a performance video really, let's say. I think I
managed to use a different guitar or instrument in each one, because
one of them's a banjo song. One of them's played on a regular guitar,
and the rest are all played on National guitars. The one you're
mentioning, ‘Come With Me’, I can't remember which guitar. I’d
have to look at the video and remember. But I have an artist deal
with National Reso-Phonic in California.
BiTS: Is it your signature guitar? You've got a signature guitar,
haven’t you?
DA: I do have and I'm trying desperately to remember which
one I used in that video. It was either the signature guitar that
National launched in 2019, or it was a custom National Delphi
Vintage Steel. I'm going to have to have a wee look [laughing] to
see if I can see anything here because it's really weird. I mean, it
sounds ridiculous that I can't remember what guitar was used where, but that
is exactly what I can't remember. And as we speak, I am looking on my phone to see. Can I see anything
here? Goodness me, it's really quite bad form, isn't it?
BiTS: Don't worry about that.
