BiTS: Okay. On the album, Dave, is it all you? Do you have any guests that play with you or anything
like that?
DA: Not on this one. It's all just me, and it's all just acoustic and it's all live. Live in the studio, not
live in a gig, because the last album I did have a few guests on, and a drummer from a band from
Northern Ireland called The Bonnevilles, playing drums on the title track, and I had a fiddle player
on a couple of tracks. I had my old harmonica player from Radio Tones playing on a couple of tracks,
and I wanted to do that just to make it a bit different. But this one is all just me, warts and all, solo
and acoustic and live [laughs].
BiTS: How are you planning to promote it? Are you going to tour with it?
DA: Yes, there will be. Well, there's the usual gigs just coming up. I’ve a gig coming up in Glasgow,
a fairly big gig and I'll be doing a couple of summer festivals and things. Upton Blues Festival and
my usual sort of run of gigs. But come
November, I will probably be doing an
industry and media launch show. We
usually do something at the Scottish
Music Centre a few days before the
release of the album and get all the
Scottish media and the Scottish music
industry people along to that and ply
them with whiskey. The more they
drink, the better the reviews.
Then there's a gig on Thursday the 6th
of November in Aberdeen, the 7th of
November, which is actually the release
date for the album, I’m
playing the show at the
Harbour Arts Centre in
Irvine, in Ayrshire. It's a
really nice venue and the 8th
of November I'm playing a
cracking venue in Stirling
called The Tolbooth, which
is a beautiful venue. There
was a plan to do something
at Komedia in November,
but we've decided to hold
Brighton and England, or
South of England anyway,
until March because we
want to try and get a few
other dates and venues who
wanted to book me and had availability, but we want to try and do them all together. It doesn't really
make an awful lot of sense to do them all piecemeal. So these gigs will be in March next year, I think.
