process. I didn't really know what to expect there. I just thought it would be cool if
we had skeleton faces. So I spoke to Max and Thea at Oracle FX, who did all the
prosthetic makeup, and we came up with some ideas and some concepts, and they
said we think it would be best to cast your faces in order to make it look like a skull
as opposed to a mask. So it ended up just being a seed of an idea that grew into an
oak tree, and I have to say, having the makeup on my face all day, the prosthetics,
the two boys were very lucky. Their masks came off. Or their prosthetics came off,
but mine was actually glued to my face and we started at about 9:00 AM, I think it
was, and the mask didn't come off till
about ten at night, and I was really just
losing my mind by the end of. It was so,
so uncomfortable and I guess I'd been
sweating all day because it was a hot day.
I was thinking like, I'm so glad I didn't
know this, but it was literally glued to my
face, and they had to use an acetone to
remove it. I think I'd have been quite
claustrophobic if I had known that I
couldn't have just pulled it off. It was
stuck fast.
BiTS: Oh gosh. I remember reading
some time ago about I can't remember
who it was, a famous actor who was
involved in putting on prosthetics and
found it so unpleasant, he had to
withdraw from the show.
KKH: Do you know what, I completely
sympathise with him because I had a
moment I was like, I don't think I can
finish this music video, which is like
crazy because it was my own baby, you
know? But it really did cross my mind. I
thought I don't know how I'm going to
do this, but we went for a little drive. I
had a slice of pizza and just went and
finished it because it would have been a bit of a tragedy if I didn't. But it is horrible
having to wear prosthetics on your face all day. You can't itch your face and suddenly
all these sensations start arising, but it was so, so satisfying to get it off, and I'm so
glad I sat through it and was brave.
BiTS: Where was the place that you actually filmed this?
KKH: So that is a place in Kent called Laredo and they obviously do a lot of film
work there. They do recreations there. So they do historically accurate recreations
