THE BiTS INTERVIEw: KK Hammond

KK Hammond is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. She

chooses to live a rural life and is is by nature a ‘backwoods’
person. She is an inventive songwriter and shares the

musical space filled by ghoulies and ghosties and lang-

leggedy beasties, with occasional forays in to the world of

revenge filled ‘spaghetti’ westerns (with a side of macabre),

even venturing into the world of movie making.

Ian McKenzie spoke to her on the telephone at her rustic

       retreat.

    KKH: Hello, is that Ian?

BiTS: It is indeed, yes. Kris, nice to speak to

                                                          you.

KKH: Lovely to speak to you. Thank you so
                                                          much for calling me.

BiTS: It's my pleasure. I'm pleased to see
that things seem to be moving for you. You've
got yourself an agent and so on and so on and

so forth, that sort of thing.

KKH: Yeah, it makes life a little bit easier
because otherwise you end up doing all the

jobs of a label, and it's absolutely exhausting.

BiTS: Well, you seem to be doing an awful
lot. I mean, I've been looking at the film this

afternoon, the video on YouTube, and I'm
                                                          hugely impressed by it.

KKH: Thank you so much. I really appreciate

that. I do love film, but it's one of those
things, it’s a time constraint, isn't it? And that

was me, I think, biting off a little bit more
than I could really chew [chuckles]. That was
a really big project and that took probably

from the conceptualising it to completion, it
was like a couple of years. So I don't know
that I'll be doing anything that huge again
