Debunking the myths of covid-19
The corona virus outbreak also meant outbreak of myths on it here are some
myths that are debunked by the WHO
Myth 1: Pets can spread the new corona virus
The novel corona virus has believed to have originated from animals with most
support indicating bats, pangolins as the host from which humans first
contracted this disease. Since then it had transmitted from person to person.
However, despite its animal origins, covid-19 cannot come from any pets or
domestic animals, says Dr Vikas Maurya head, department of pulmonology and
sleep disorders, Delhi Fortis hospital. But 2 owners of dogs were infected by the
disease however there is no solid evidence that dogs play a role in spreading
this disease
Myth 2: Covid-19 can be cured or prevented by hydroxychloroquine
There is currently no drug licensed for
curing or preventing covid-19. While
several drug trials are going on there is
no proof that hydroxychloroquine or any
other drug can cure or prevent covid-19
The misuse of hydroxychloroquine can
cause serious side effects and even
death
Myth 3: Adding pepper to your soup or other meals can cure or prevent
covid-19
Hot pepper in your mouth though very tasty does not cure covid19. The best
way to protect yourself from covid-19 is to keep at least 1metre away from
others and to wash your hands thoroughly and frequently
Myth 4: Covid-19 is transmitted through houseflies.
To this date there is no evidence or information, to suggest that covid-19 is
transmitted through houseflies It spreads primarily through droplets generated
when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speak You can also become
