14.3 Classroom Emergency Procedures:

CBSE has issued National Disaster Management Guidelines on School Safety Policy.
• The disaster management plan for the class, (including the classroom and building
exit plans represented graphically, important contact details, evacuation centres if
any, etc.) must be placed on the notice board of the class for students to constantly CHAPTER 14 : DisAsTER MAnAgEMEnT
see and imbibe.
• Teachers must explain the plan to the class and ensure that each and every student
is aware of the response on his/her part in case of any disaster.
• In particular, there must be a plan for evacuating and taking care of disabled students.
• Teachers must practice regular safety drills with their students.
If the school is located in an Earthquake zone, the drills must include drills specific to it.
