Any changes in the job description or an employee’s job position that require a new job description should be kept updated in the employee’s file.
5. SPECIFIC PROCEDURE 5.1 Maintenance & Approval
Job descriptions can be located on the Research Administration’s shared drive. When initiating a job description, please follow the following steps:
1. Open a new job description from the Research Administration shared drive.
2. Complete each section of the job description based on the acceptable qualifications provided for the job position or a comparable job position at Children’s Health or at similarly, structured institutions.
a. The following sections should be informed by rules and regulations of the institution or governing entities:
i. Position Summary
ii. Job Profile
iii. Experience
iv. Education
v. Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
vi. Hiring competencies
b. The following sections should (also) be defined to support the department and constrained by the job environment:
i. Experience
ii. Education
iii. Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
iv. Hiring competencies
v. Physical and Non-physical Demands
vi. Environmental Conditions
vii. Primary Work Location
3. The job description should be reviewed and approved by the director of the department.
4. The job description should be reviewed and approved by HR.
5. The approved job description can be posted on the Children’s Health website for the appropriate hiring position.
6. The approved job description should be maintained in the Research Administration shared drive.
