2) The institution must review the updated regulations and provide this information to all covered individuals through updating their policies and training resources.
3) The institution must oversee the completion and documentation of COI training by all covered individuals.
Covered Individual
1) The covered individual is to utilize the information made available to them in the relevant policies and training.
(a) CHST Institution: CHST policy AD 1.08 Conflict of Interest
(b) Governing Agency of Research: UTSW requires that each covered person participating in research complete Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program COI Training: https://www.citiprogram.org/
Registration with the CITI Program
(i) Register with the CITI program
(ii) Select UT Southwestern Medical Center as the affiliated institution (iii) Select COI training
Complete CITI COI Training
(iv) Login into the CITI Program
(v) Open the first of four COI modules
(vi) Review the material in the module
(vii) Complete the quiz until you have mastered the material by 80% (viii) Repeat for the remaining 3 modules.
2) The covered individual must stay current on all COI required training. Certificates can be printed and filed in the respective regulatory files or provided to the participating governing agencies upon request.
3) The covered individual must evaluate all of their interests and identify any potential for COI.
5.2 Disclose
Enforcing the policies on COI are a responsibility of both the institution and covered individual. The institution and relevant governing agencies of research require COI disclosure annually per the current policy and applicable regulations.
Governing Agencies of Research & CHST Institution
1) All governing agencies of research and the CHST institution must enforce annual completion of COI by all covered individuals.
2) Additionally, it is expected that the institution require all newly acquired COI to be disclosed at the time they are acquired.
3) The institution must report any newly acquired COI within 60 days of becoming aware of them.
