SOP Title: Hands-On Training (HOT) for Research Classes
1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this standard operating procedure (SOP) is to describe the standard procedures to be followed for planning and coordinating the Hands-On Training (HOT) for Research classes.
2. INTRODUCTION
As per Clinical Practice Policy 7.13 “Approval, Training, and Education of the Research Team” researchers and research professionals must receive on-going education and training concerning human subjects research. The Clinical Research Educator (CRE) Research Administration (RA) department provides opportunities for education and training. Research Colloquia are held quarterly or as needed and address topical research themes. Didactic Virtual Based Research Classes are in-depth explorations of research regulations with a hands-on training active learning approach.
3. SCOPE
This SOP applies to all Didactic Virtual Based Research Classes planned and coordinated by the CRE.
This SOP does not apply to any other education or training opportunity planned or coordinated by the CRE.
4. RESPONSIBILITIES
The following outlines the CRE’s responsibilities in this time of Pandemic including coverage of the Didactic Virtual Based Research Classes.
4.1 Clinical Research Educators
To plan, organize, and manage Didactic Virtual Based Research Classes
4.2 Research Administration Leadership
To review, modify as needed, and approve curricula for Didactic Virtual Based Research Classes
5. SPECIFIC PROCEDURE
5.1 Scope HOT for Research Process
A. Planning Curriculum and Content for HOT for Research Classes
• The CRE will assess and update existing content as needed. All updates will be reported to the Director, Research Administration. See “Appendix A – Curriculum for HOT for Research Classes” for current content.
• When any content is revised, the CRE will provide content to Research Administration Leadership and to appropriate persons for review.
B. Event Registration and Advertisement
• The CRE will post publicly registration for participants to register for this offering to track metrics accurately.
