ISA COORINATOR’S REPORT
ISA project on indigenous games for students of Grade VI and VII aimed at
arousing interest of the students in the indigenous games which are sadly eclipsed
by television, smart phones, computer, video and online games. The teacher in-
charge of the project ensured that the children not only learnt the indigenous
games of their country but the games of other countries as well.
The sports teachers Mr Anand, Mrs Veronica and Mrs Sangita sincerely tried
to revive the forgotten indigenous games by making the students play the
traditional games like Kho kho, Langdi, Kabaddi of their own country as well as
indigenous games like Shadows, Ten Ten, Corre Corre La Gauraca of Ireland,
Nigeria and Chile respectively. The students not only enjoyed playing these
games but also realised that playing games on the playground with their friends
offered more benefits than playing video and online games.
Sports develop skills like concentration, logical thinking, dexterity, sensory
skills, and life skills.
“Sport has the power to change the world. It speaks to the youth in a language
they understand.” – Nelson Mandela
The sports teachers ensured that students loved the language of sports. Besides
playing the games, the students also became vocal about it in the ISA Elocution
and Debate competitions. The ISA project on indigenous games made the
children fall in love with the games. It is rightly said games are the heartbeat of a
nation.
May all the students excel in sports and become heart throb of their nation.
