ISA COORDINATOR’S REPORT
Historical Monuments are the reflection of our history. Preservation of old
monuments plays an important cultural role in cultivating pride for our heritage.
The ISA project on World Monuments aimed to make the students not only
appreciate the elegance and splendour of bygone era but also instil in their minds
a sense of pride for these monuments which are testimonies of man’s greatness.
The students of Grade VII and VIII gave an overwhelming response to the clarion
call given by the key teacher in-charge of the project, Sheeja Menon who took
painstaking efforts to conduct all the project related activities.
The beautiful models of world monuments made by Grade VIII students are
testimony to the fact that our institution has a goldmine of talent. ISA model
making activity helped to unearth their talent. Thanks to ISA, this activity not
only nurtured children’s dexterity but also developed their cognitive skills like
planning, problem solving and logical thinking. The drawing competition helped
the children to understand and harness their creativity and allowed them
to think out of the box.
Edgar Degas, a French artist rightly said, “Drawing is not what one sees but what
one can make others see.” One could see the world monuments on the drawing
sheets the way children perceived them. Scrapbooking was one of the sedate and
serene of physical craft activities that children could take part in; perhaps only on
a par with drawing. The children amazed us with craft skills like sticking, gluing,
cutting and pasting. They exhibited their creative skills in board decoration as
well.
Monuments are grappling irons that bind one generation to another. The
teachers involved in this ISA project tried their best to imprint on the minds of
the children the importance of historical world monuments.
May the present generation get monumental success in preserving World
Monuments.
