In order to see that the work was carried out systematically and without delay tasks
were entrusted to staff members and sub committees were formed. The members stayed
connected though social networking.
The committee meetings would be held every week to discuss about the progress and
inputs from all the members. The following points were discussed in the planning
process.
The total number of participants from each section and the language in which
they would express.
The timing to be allotted to the participants from different sections.
Costumes/attires appropriate for the event.
Budget being the main constraint, a proposal for sponsoring the event was
initiated.
Allocate the task to different language teachers and the subsequent responsibility
to train the students.
Badges for the participants.
Lay out of entry gate.
Preparation of Banners, Posters Leaflets etc.
The invitation mailers to The P.M.O., C.M.O., B.M.C. Education dept., Education
Inspector’s office, Dy. Director’s office, University of Mumbai and 3000 schools
and Colleges in and around Mumbai for the wide publicity of the event.
It was proposed and decided to invite two Chief guests for the function
Prize distribution and felicitation to all the participants.
Arrangement of refreshments to the participants, guests and staffs on duty.
Crowd management and discipline.
Sequence of the programme
Proposed events alongside talkathon – skit, photo exhibition and Gandhi’s biopic.
Technical team for Photography and video, stage backdrop, sound system etc.
Actual work:
As planned the teachers selected the students and trained them in different languages.
Parents too supported the staff in training students in their mother tongue. The practice
sessions went on for almost a month and more.
There was an overwhelming response from the sponsors. The rehearsal was conducted
on the 1st of October.
On the morning of 2nd October at 8.30 a.m, the Talkathon - 2019 was inaugurated in
the presence of the Management members, Principals of different sections and Schools,
staff, participants, parents and guests. The event was held in the school premises.
Shri D Sivanandan, former CP-Mumbai and DGP Maharashtra and Dr. Radhakrishnan
Pillai, Dy. Director (M. A. – Leadership skills), University of Mumbai graced the occasion
and addressed students on the relevance of Gandhian principles in the 21st century.
