their shared loss of a loved one and getting used to a new
home in an unfamiliar area.
WINT. WOLFGANG’S HOUSE. WOLFGANG’S BEDROOM - NIGHT
A BED, DESK and CHAIR. Relief wallpaper of cowboys riding
bucking broncos and twirling lassos. Another leftover.
On one wall, a poster of
the planets in the SOLAR SYSTEM
rotating around the Sun.
A TELESCOPE looks up out
of the window.
On the desk, GLUE, WIRE,
SCREWDRIVERS, PLIERS, a SOLDERING
IRON.
Evidence that WOLFGANG likes to fix broken things.
He carefully constructs a Crystal Radio.
Winds copper wire around a toilet tube.
Fixes it to a wooden board. Solders a diode and resistor, to create a basic circuit. Bends a coat hanger to pivot around
a bolt.
He puts a crystal earpiece into his ear. Slides the coat GORGEOUS
hanger along the copper wire.
A CRACKLE of STATIC. Then MUSIC.
A radio station is playing -- ‘STARMAN’ by DAVID BOWIE.
BOWIE (V.O.)
Look out your window, I can see his
li-i-ight...If we can sparkle he
may land toni-i-ight...Don't tell
your Poppa or he'll get us locked
up in fright...There’s a Starman
waiting in the sky...he’d like to
come and meet us but he thinks he’d
blow our minds...
