importance of maritime education. It also enlightened the students about the international trade
and its effects on our daily lives.
Special assembly on Metric Measures day by Grade 7 Learners
“A healthy planet is not an option — it is a necessity”
The students of Grade 7B hosted a prodigious assembly to celebrate Metric day and Earth day.
Keeping the Cambridge attribute of “Responsibility” in mind our young learners organized a
special assembly on Friday, 16th April 2021 to propel fellow students to feel a greater sense
of urgency about protecting our planet.
Ms. Pratima Arvikar, Ms. Rithvika Palepu and Ms. Shreya Banala pioneered the show in a fun
filled way about how “measures” form a part of our daily lives right from the amount of
toothpaste one uses to brush their teeth in the morning to the amount of sleep one requires
each night. Measurement permeates every aspect of human life. Yet, ironically, we tend to
take measurement for granted, and we fail to appreciate just how much we need and depend
on our measurement tools. We overlook the importance of measurement because we are
surrounded by it and have grown accustomed to it. It is only when our measurement tools
malfunction or are unavailable that we begin to appreciate just how important they are. Our
students brought out the essence of this through the new word, quiz, thought for the day and a
speech.
It was delightful to listen a song that conveyed nuances about the little things we can do in
order to take care of our Earth like recycling old and waste stuff. It also highlighted the
importance of conserving resources for our future generations. Our IGCSE coordinator –
