Targets for Health Education:
Refer to the path of people, who will have the benefits from health education, they
can be:
1. Individuals: such as clients of services, patients, healthy individuals.
2. Groups: E.g. groups of students in a class, youth club.
3. Community: E.X. people living in a village.
Health Education Settings:
When considering the range of health education interventions, they are usually
described in relation to different settings. The settings could be at:
1. Communities
2. Health care facilities
3. Work sites
4. Schools
5. Prisons
6. Camps
Who is responsible for health education?
Health education is the duty of everyone engaged in health and
community development activities. Health extension workers are primarily
responsible in working with the families and community at a grass root level to
promote health and prevent disease through provision of health education.
Role of health educator:
1. Talking to the people and listening of their problems.
2. Thinking of the behavior or action that could cause, cure and prevent these
problems.
3. Helping people to see the reasons for their actions and health problems.
4. Finding reasons for people’s behaviors.
5. Asking people to give their own ideas for solving the problems.
