A true icon is one that has stood the test
of time. And so the brothers draw heavily
from our American history - cultural and
otherwise. Iconography reflects those im-
ages and objects that bind us collectively
in psyche and spirit.
Before the widespread popularity of TV, it
was the Golden Age of Cinema and the
photojournalism of national magazines
such as Time, Look and Life, that began
to create a national American Culture.
The brothers make liberal reference in
their work to the covers of those seminal
publications and to the stars of movies
