Enjoy Doing It

path to success. Dustin had just that in Curtis Collins. Curtis was the Superintendent at the St. Charles Country Club, and he spent hours teaching Dustin and putting up with his constant daily questions. A great mentor makes time to answer the silly questions because teaching is important. The biggest piece of advice given to Dustin from Curtis was “work hard, and never stop learning”. Dustin believes that continuing to learn is integral in the turf management industry as it is ever-changing, and you must be on top of new technologies.
Dustin’s philosophy of “work hard but enjoy doing it” has created a great work culture under his leadership. “The industry has a lot of obstacles. We all know 5:00 am starts are tiring and if the turf team does not enjoy coming to work, you are behind the eight ball before you even start the day,” says Zdan.
