At the first virtual Golf Business Canada Conference & Trade Show, delegates submitted ideas in advance for the Great Canadian Idea Share that showcased their best money-saving and revenue-generating ideas. The top 8 semi-finalists were chosen and presented live during the virtual event with delegates voting for the top 4 favourite ideas.
It was a competitive process, with many creative and impressive ideas stemming from a golf season unlike any other. The top 4 finalist ideas will be featured in Golf Business Canada Magazine.
In typical 2020 fashion, we had our first ever co-winners who tied for first place, and are the proud recipients of the grand prize of an all expense paid golf trip to The Highland Links at Cape Breton, valued at $5,000 courtesy of Tee-On Golf Management Software and bragging rights for a whole year!

As 2020 brought exceptional demand for golf, it also brought challenges with capacity. We took a hard look at our tee sheet to find solutions or opportunities to provide more access to golfers.
In doing so, we realized that there is a fundamental problem with the traditional pay-one-price and play all you want membership model. It was clogging up our tee sheet and we were losing revenue as golfers were paying the same price for membership, regardless of how many rounds they were playing.
So, we developed our new club membership model, where you purchase into the membership category that best fits your lifestyle. We no longer offer a pay-one-price and play as much as you want membership. You can choose the following:
• Club 30 - includes 30 rounds • Club 50 - includes 50 rounds • Club 40 - includes 40 rounds • Club 60 - includes 60 rounds
We encourage our members to choose the membership that best works for the number of rounds they anticipate playing. If they played 30 or 40 rounds on average last year, they are going to pay less for their club membership, so their average round rate dropped. If they played 50 or 60 rounds on average last year, they are going to pay more per round, but are still getting a significant discount versus a green fee. Finally, if they purchase a Club 30 membership and want to play more, they pay the average round rate for the Club 30 membership level for the additional rounds.
We have been very pleased with our new club membership model. Our revenues have increased and we have protected access to the tee sheet which is very important in this high-demand climate.
