A Purpose-Built Halfway House
to Enhance the
Member Experience
FROM NECESSITY TO
OPPORTUNITY
At the Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto,
the only club in North America
founded by women, for women,
we pride ourselves on balancing
heritage with progress. For years,
our halfway house had served its
basic purpose, but member
feedback, aging infrastructure, and
the growing expectations of
modern golfers told us it was time
for a reimagining.
This was not solely about a
renovation. It was about creating a
space that reflected our club’s
values, a space that was welcoming,
efficient, beautiful, and attuned to
our members’ needs. We viewed
the halfway house as more than a
pit stop. We saw it as a chance to
elevate the member experience,
support pace of play, and introduce
new operational efficiencies — all
while creating an expression of the
club’s future-facing identity.
RETHINKING THE STATUS QUO
Our previous halfway house was
showing its age and had outlived
its usefulness. It lacked outdoor
shelter, had no seating for members,
minimal interior space, and
couldn’t adequately support
enough self-serve food offerings.
Members frequently expressed a
desire for more comfort, improved
washrooms, and expanded food
and beverage options, without
slowing down pace of play.
