4th Place Idea
Delegates of the 2014 Golf Business Canada Conference & Trade Show were challenged to find their course’s Missing Link at The Missing Link Idea Session Game Show. Armed with their best ideas from this past season, each group of delegates chose their best idea and presented it on stage to the panel of “esteemed” judges.
Presented by Kubota Canada, the Missing Link Idea Session is one of the most highly regarded and beneficial components of the annual Golf Business Canada Conference & Trade Show.
The 1st place winner was given an opportunity to choose the Kubota tractor, mower or utility vehicle of their choice. The selected Kubota vehicle will be delivered to the winning club, and will be theirs for one full season. Kubota also provided the top four winners with generous gift baskets.
The top three ideas will be presented in upcoming issues of Golf Business Canada magazine. Due to the originality of many of the submitted ideas, turn to the following page for all of the Honourable Mentions.

We wanted a concept that would really spice things up and draw attention to our Men’s Night in order to bring in new members and sponsors. Redneck Night is held once a year and the concept is to have a night where golf is played - but more importantly - our Men’s Night members can really cut loose and go wild!
Redneck Night has become a big success and we have experienced a significant growth in Men’s Night memberships, food and beverage sales, and marketing visibility through normal media and word-of-mouth. Here are some of the key points:
Golf attire not permitted
Leave the slacks and button-up polos at home! Throw on your favourite ripped jeans, mustard-stained t-shirt, steel-toed work boots - or just go barefoot. Dress like a redneck, and have a chance to win a prize for “Best Redneck Outfit.”
Use one of our golf carts or... other?
This is the only time when you can bring your own vehicle instead of using one of our golf carts. Alternatives to golf carts that we have seen are... ATVs, 4 wheelers, riding lawnmowers, motorcycles and trench-diggers!
Have you ever played a par 6?
Given the stereotype that many Rednecks can’t count - we create an alternative to our normal layout that is extra-challenging and a lot of fun. For example, we turn two par 4s into a super-long par 6! If you need a break, go fishing at one of our ponds - catch a fish and take 2 strokes off your score!
Dinner anyone? Better bring some napkins
What would a Redneck golf event be without a Redneck-inspired meal with all the classic fixin’s? Grab a knife and cut a piece of ham off our pig that has been roasting on a spit all day. Enjoy corn on the cob, country-fried chicken, ribs, beer-baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread - and for desert - hot apple pie!
In summary, this is by far our most successful Men’s Night. We are in the entertainment industry - and it doesn’t get more entertaining than this!
