The Glen Oaks Club 27-Hole renovation program was a turning point for my career. This project cemented
my belief that a thoughtful, stylistic bunker renovation can absolutely transform the character and identity

of an entire property. The project opened my eyes to the possibilities of stretching construction budgets by
engaging enthusiastic Maintenance Crew labor to complete select demolition and finishing tasks (led by
Craig Currier, well known former Superintendent of Bethpage Black for their two U.S. Open Championships).
Most importantly, my Glen Oaks experience also taught me the benefit of thinking outside the box, effec-
tively bucking normal practices… at Glen Oaks I selected a design styling that is unlike the traditional/classic

architecture found elsewhere on Long Island. Instead of mimicking those great neighboring facilities we
crafted a sleek, modern facility instead.

This bold thinking significantly elevated the stature of this once struggling Club (as it was still reeling from
the Madoff Ponzi scheme scandal) to now one of the strongest in the Metropolitan Region. In addition, our
vision was rewarded with the Club hosting a PGA Tour event soon after the completion of our work, an ac-
complishment never imagined when we first began our partnership with Glen Oaks.
