Just west of central Hamilton, Harry’s
and Harry’s Bar at The Waterfront has a

At the eastern perimeter of Hamilton, the
Harbourfront Restaurant at the Bermuda
Underwater Exploration Institute o ers a
fine dining experience at its Sushi Bar, new
wine showroom and newly-renovated
outdoor terrace overlooking Hamilton
Harbour at picturesque Foot of the Lane.
Tom Moore’s Tavern, named after the
Irish poet reputed to have stayed in this
landmark house, is a long-established
restaurant that merits a trip eastward.
SEAFOOD
From our famous fish chowder,
codfish cakes and seasonal lobster to
refined interpretations, seafood is—
as expected—a staple in Bermuda’s
restaurants. Here are a few spots—from
east to west and in all price ranges—at
which you can enjoy seafood.
At the Royal Naval Dockyard in the
Island’s west end, try Freeport Seafood
Restaurant and Bar and/or Bone Fish
Bar & Grill. In the City of Hamilton
Barracuda Grill and the Lobster Pot are
well-established choices that continue
to please.
Some restaurants noted for seafood
also o er ambience or atmosphere that
vies with the excellence of the main
course. Lido at Elbow Beach in Paget
complements its gourmet entrees with
sunset views of one of the most famous
beaches in Bermuda—and the world. In
St. George’s, at Wahoo’s, a lively clientele in recent years. In Hamilton, you’ll find
regularly spills out onto the old town’s
charming Water Street. The menu is
reasonably priced and the fish tacos
outstanding. Across the harbour, the
Black Horse Tavern is famous for local
seafood dishes.
THE PUB SCENE
Pubs serving a wide selection of beers,
wine and spirits together with a sociable
buzz and ‘pub food’—shepherd’s pie,
bangers and mash, fish and chips and
the like—abound in this British colony.
Hamilton’s Hog Penny Pub and the
Swizzle Inn in Bailey’s Bay are fixtures that
have been continuously serving locals and
visitors for generations, as has the White
Horse Tavern on the waterfront at King’s
Square, St. George’s.
Other worthy pubs in or near the City of
Hamilton include the Robin Hood Pub &
Restaurant, Docksider Pub & Restaurant
and Flanagan’s Irish Pub & Outback Sports
Bar. The latter goes all out to celebrate St.
Patrick’s Day!
A ten-minute drive eastwards from the
City of Hamilton, North Rock Brewing Co.
is proud of its beer and ale selection and the a sure bet. The venerable Spot Restaurant
food is good, too. Travelling westwards,
Henry VIII Restaurant and Pub is where to
find the beef and other hearty pub fare.
Not too far away, Swizzle Inn has opened
a branch of its original pub in this area
close to some of Bermuda’s best-known
beaches, including Horseshoe Beach and
Warwick Long Bay. At the Royal Naval
Dockyard—that imposing reminder of the
British navy’s presence in Bermuda—the
Frog & Onion Pub adds the ambience
of historic architecture to its popular
menu items.
CAFÉS, BISTROS AND GRILLS
Cafés, bistros and restaurants featuring
lighter yet sophisticated food in a relaxed
atmosphere have sprung up everywhere
these restaurants on main routes like
Front Street or narrow, vehicle-free
walkways such as Chancery Lane. Bistro
J on charming Chancery Lane provides
a menu that changes daily and a casual,
intimate setting. By contrast, on busy
Front Street at Muse you can people watch
street-side or get away from the crowd

on Burnaby Street in the City of Hamilton,
The Paraquet on South Road in Paget
and the Speciality Inn at Collector’s Hill in
Smith’s Parish exemplify the home-spun
type and have been in business for years.
Common Ground in Chancery Lane has a
young vibe and is one of the best places
in town for made-to-order sandwiches
and home-baked sweets. Its walls are
decorated with Bermudian art that is
mostly available for purchase. Funky
Tribe Road Kitchen at the eastern end
of Reid Street also o ers a wide variety
of homemade sweet and savoury treats,
which are baked on the premises by the
owner-chef and her sta .
With its stu ed sofas and casual ambience,
Rock Island Co ee on Reid Street is an
inviting spot for reading the daily news
over a great cup of co ee, which not
surprisingly is the café’s specialty.
