1. Cable routing and interfacing between modules
a. Cable routing is a skill that is better described face to face and understood by doing. We will
try to illustrate the process by showing a gallery of images.
b. Keep in mind that most cables are labeled, color-coded and cut to length. All these are helpful
when identifying which cable goes where and how to route it properly through the multiple
cable baskets, conduits and designated areas.
c. Also keep in mind that the only cables going out of the gantry are the ones going to the control
desk and the only cables coming into the gantry are the Mains power and any some optional
external interlocks (“x-ray on” light signs, emergency switches (EPO) and door switches, etc.)
2. Complete the cable routing inside components then follow with the external connections between
them. Keep in mind that routing cables in certain areas requires certain level of precision as
spacing and flexibility are limited. Make sure the cables properly reach their destination without
stressing the cables before adding any ty-wraps or fixing them permanently. (See picture galleries
for reference)
The PDU is naturally where most of the connections interface. The PDU console has a dedicated
interface panel on the side where most cables and signals converge. (see image)
