Presented by Katherine Winans and Sandra Thompson

How is CFBPW doing at developing future leaders.

If your club or district is struggling to find officers, maybe it’s time for a bylaw review.

What are the requirements to serve as an officer? Do they include prior service as a
         Director, Club President, Committee Chair?

CFBPW Bylaws have the following requirement to serve as an officer...

Article X Section 4. Eligibility for Office
                        A. Each officer shall be eligible for bonding.
                           B. Candidates for the office of President and President-Elect shall have served a minimum
of two (2) years on the CFBPW Board of Directors, one (1) year as a District President

or two (2) years on the CFBPW Board of Directors and one (1) year as president of a
                           deliberative assembly.
                           C. Candidates for the office of Treasurer shall be financially literate, computer literate,
and have access to a computer.
                           D. Candidates for the office of Secretary shall be computer literate, have access to a
computer, and have one (1) year as secretary of an organization.

Do your Club or District bylaws have something similar? There are no CFBPW manda-
tory requirements for club or district officer prerequisites so you may have your
         own...or none.

Members may have experience serving as officers in other organizations that would
benefit your club/district. You might consider eliminating all prior club/district service
or adding leadership service in any BPW club, district or state in the USA or even in
         other organizations.

We have new members who know almost zero about the organization they just
joined. They should be given a New Member Orientation right away. Much of the
NFBPWC Lifelong Learning & Leadership is applicable and should be utilize
