LONDON IS A MEETING GROUND
One of the very strong draw cards for me personally about being a BPW member, is
the international flavour it has. July brought that international flavour to London when I had
the opportunity to meet up with both Dr Anastacia Lewis, President of BPW Freeport Grand
Bahama and MS Thouvia France, from St Kitts and Nevis who is now a Counsellor at her
country’s High Commission in London. Dr Lewis brought a rich, dynamic presence to the
conversation, which was organised and attended by BPW UK President, Jo Kinsey.
It was interesting to hear Dr Lewis’s views and strategies about team composition
and leadership and to experience the energy she puts into everything. Ms France is the epit-
ome of calm, collected, quiet strength speckled with determination and a brilliant mind.
What an honour to be able to share an unassuming meal with them and to understand that
we have common goals and visions for a better future.
The following evening, I was again in the company of greatness, when I met up with
Advocate Marcia Regina Bull, from BPW Sao Paulo, Brazil. Marcia is a phenomenal women
who turns hardship into opportunities to teach others and to make a difference in a variety
of communities through a variety of different channels. Marcia is keen to bring an event to
London in March 2025 and we will hopefully be able to tell you more about this soon.
We spoke woman to woman about our own stories and found we had much in com-
mon. This is the golden thread I have found whenever I have attended national or interna-
tional meetings and where I have forged friendships which span decades. In the big things
of life, we are one.
