Some may recall that back a while, almost all planes flying from Western Canada had
to refuel there. It played a big part in WWII as well, given it was/is a huge airport. Incredible
that the residents of that small town looked after the almost 7,000 people from the planes (I
believe around 450 planes landed there). Amazing show and highly recommended I you
have the chance to see it.
Well, next day, we were off to Edinburgh, again booked ages ago, for the Edinburgh
Military Tattoo. We met up with my great-niece Lydia on the Friday evening for dinner which
was nice. Next morning we got the tram out to see the Royal Yacht Britannia –

that was wonderful, and then in the evening we got a taxi to the Edinburgh Tattoo (all uphill
so didn’t want to walk). That was brilliant too – yet more things off my bucket list. Well, on
the way back we thought that as it was downhill we’d walk down to Princes Street to catch
the tram back to the hotel.
However, we somehow
missed the tram stop (seems we
went in the right direction, but
the tram stop was to the left and
with all the crowds we just didn’t
see it. So, we kept on walking,
not seeing any other stops and
finally got to the hotel where I
said ‘I don’t know about you, but
I need an Aperol Spritz! So, an
amazing set of ‘bucket list’ items
achieved!
