Edition 125– October 2024
Dear members,
This month we have been working towards further awareness of Breast Can-
cer, and all that we need to do to make sure we do not just keep ourselves in-
formed, but that we can help others. We sadly all know the statistics, and we know
of a friend, colleague or neighbour who has experience of this disease.
So, what can be done? Well we hosted a webinar with speaker Dr Anastasia
Lewis , President of BPW Freeport Grand Bahamas. Dr Anastasia has made a career
of selling the right medical grade bra for us and explaining how wearing the “right
bra” can help in the healthy life of our breasts. By us getting measured, and perhaps
ditching the “lovely colour, but not quite the right size bra that was in the sale and
should fit, I will try it on at home” bra .....Do we all have one of those in the draw-
ers?? Our BPW International Vice President for Membership Dr Guiseppina Seidita
explained why this was an important issue for us all, and why BPW International has
co-funded the publication of a book entitled “Breast Cancer: What you need to
know”. Marcia Regina-Bull a member of BPW San Paolo has championed the book,
and kindly explained her own fight with cancer, and how she decided it would give
her the positive energy to help educate us all in this matter. Marcia has kindly given
us permission to share a downloadable copy of the book, either by a QR code or link
that you will see at the end of my introduction. Please do share this with the net-
works that you are a part of, as by doing this, you may just give someone the
knowledge they need.

This is my Cousin’s daughter, Charlotte Barry ( aged 30) who was photo-
graphed by Sum Art Photography https://sumartphotography.com for the char-
ity https://coppafeel.org.This is a charity that encourages all of us to regularly
check our breasts for any signs that things have changed, and is especially aimed at
younger women. Thank you to Charlotte for not only sharing her battle with NICE
over funding of her maintenance drugs that she will need going forward, in a previ-
ous issue of our BPW UK Newsletter, but also these beautiful post double mastecto-
my photos. I want to say how proud I am of Charlotte, and all that she is doing to
help others during her journey. Charlotte you are beautiful inside and out.
