1st Plenary Session
She had trained as a defence barrister but due to political policies at the
time was imprisoned for two years in her own country but released early
and ultimately became the 1st Vice President of Taiwan.
She learnt to work with men, not against them and ‘history became HER-
story’.
Regarding global gender parity there are currently 4.16 billion males and
4 billion females globally. Europe is the top performing continent but
there is still a long way to go.
Women are more likely to acknowledge the protection of rights and integ-
rity of all children and marginalised people. Where women lead or have
equal representation at negotiating tables there will be more lasting
peace and green renovations to protect the planet.
Smaller nations need to work together to influence the larger ones.
Japan, S.Korea and Taiwan are signing up to a ‘Golden Triangle’ and will
be calling on another global summit for peace. The UN Security Council
should be involved in this and women WITHIN the UN not UN women (her
preferred terminology) have a vital part to play.
