BERKELEY CLUB

We have retained our stability with nineteen (19) members. We want to thank Manjul
Batra for her persistence in making our “membership meaningful.”

One of our newest member Diane Rames has joined us, bringing a wealth of knowledge,
skills, and abilities, with exciting community outreach programs and activities. We are looking
forward to a great effort at teamwork.

Our Club continues to participate in BPW activities and programs that were enjoyable,
and purpose driven. Highlights: Elisabeth Carrio, “Spiritual Intelligence”, How it can be applied
to businesses”, was an exciting and informative presentation; Dr. Darlene Rufin-Alexander
“Health Care”, with an emphasis on caring for our body, mind, and soul; Black History high-
lighted the contributions of Black/African Women; Women’s History Month; LaJuana Johnson-
Bivens, a charter member of the BPW Ebony Club, organized in 1989. She served as the
Club ‘s Individual Development’s Chair. She shared memories of learning from three of her
mentors that helped her in her business and professional journey, even today.
Berkeley BPW has engaged in a partnership with the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce.
A benefit of Membership allows members to be supportive of activities of education, advocacy,
and connections. These activities are presented by networking and business events.
During this term, Berkeley BPW continues to enjoy the benefits of legislative, leadership
and personal involvement by attending Conferences; webinars, Zoom meetings, and in-person.
We enjoyed having fun with an in person festive holiday social hosted by Manjul Batra in her
         Berkeley Office.
The leadership of Berkeley BPW has utilized the resources and advocacy of team build-
ing. Special thanks go out to our exciting four M’s, Michele Husby, Zoom host czar; Monique
Lee, serving on several committees, Manjul Batra for her long stance and tenacity on behalf of
BPW, and our President Maria DeSousa.
We wish to thank our committees, elected officers, and Sharon Braun for her role in
programs/activities. We congratulate the incoming officers of BPW, as we continue to enjoy our
advocacy and benefits of belonging to BPW.
As a reminder “Grant that we may realize it is the little things that create differences,
that in the big things of life, we are one.” (Mary Stewart, 1908)
