Sierra Mar BPW celebrated Marie Clifton’s life on Saturday,
January 20th at the Spaghetti Factor in Duarte. Clifton was Si-
erra Mar District’s Conference Coordinator, Nominations Chair
and Co-Coordinator of the Lifelong Leadership and Learning
Committee. She was a member of East Valley BPW and a pre-
vious President of San Marino BPW. There were more than 70
people in attendance including people who worked with her
when she sold insurance, BPW members, people who rented
apartments that she managed and friends. See below for some
of the attendees.

van were honored February 7th
with the Monterey Park City Coun-
cil’s Tree Memorial Award for their
volunteering and other contribu-
tions to the City of Monterey Park.
Carol’s husband Larry passed away
February 12, 2024.

Valley Sunset BPW District’s Winter Conference was Saturday, February
3rd 9:30 A.M. registration and 10:00 A.M. meeting at Burbank First United
Methodist Church, 700 N. Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank, CA 91502 and via
Zoom. Valley Sunset District Members-at-large planned the program.
CFBPW Program/Projects Chair Marjory Hopper was the State Rep. The
program was on the CFBPW Public Policy Statement. The speaker was Su-
san Schwartz, Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Judicial
Elections Evaluation Committee. She has been a member of that Commit-
tee for many judicial election cycles. Schwartz works for the California De-
partment of Justice; she previously worked for the Los Angeles County
District Attorney’s Office for 33 years.
